Pilates is a form of exercise that promotes spinal stability and control. This popular exercise was originally designed for dancers by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s. Clinical Pilates brings modern research based Physiotherapy practice and tried and true Pilates together to form a popular exercise that gets results.
Why One-on-One Clinical Pilates?
Correct technique is essential if you are to benefit from Clinical Pilates. Large group classes don’t tend to allow the instructor to supervise each individual adequately. We find that one-on-one sessions with a physiotherapist experienced in injury management are essential for people who do Pilates to rehabilitate painful injuries. Close supervision sets the foundation for successful group classes in the future.
The Benefits of Real–Time Ultrasound
Diagnostic ultrasound is technology used to assess the ability of the deep abdominal and back muscles to support the spine. It can provide important feedback to you on how well your muscles are working while you are exercising. It is an invaluable teaching tool as you learn Pilates.
Rehabilitation Classes
People rehabilitating from injury are required to attend an initial Pre-Pilates Assessment prior to joining the rehabilitation class. If you are alreading recieving physiotherapy treatment your physiotherapist will determine if this assessment is necessary on an case by case basis.
Matwork Pilates
Matwork Pilates offers a wide variety of exercises that can be performed in a class setting or at home. Matwork is a good introduction to Pilates principles. Most people who begin with matwork Pilates progress to equipment Pilates. Matwork Pilates can be taken in groups or on an individual basis.
Equipment Pilates
Specialised Pilates equipment offers more variety and challenge to your Pilates training. Equipment Pilates can be commenced at a beginner level and progressed to advanced training.
