Early recovery program

The best time to treat back pain, neck pain or a related injury is soon after the pain begins or injury occurs. Physiotherapy at the early stages of injury will help you get better faster.

The Fortus Early Recovery Program is an individualised physiotherapy program that can set you on the path to recovery and help prevent the pain from returning. Our physiotherapists will help you control the pain sooner, understand your condition, and provide you with strategies and techniques to assist in preventing your problem from becoming ongoing or recurrent.

Hands-on Physiotherapy

Evidence suggests that manual therapy and hands-on treatment is beneficial in the early weeks after a sports or other injury or the onset of back or neck pain.
Our physiotherapists are highly experienced and have completed or are currently undertaking post-graduate musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy training. You can rest assured that you are in the best hands with Fortus Health.

Exercise Prescription

The Physiotherapists at Fortus Health are experts at analysing how you move and the postures you adopt. As a result, they are ideally qualified to create the best exercise program for you to follow.
Staying active and performing the right exercises for your condition are the most effective treatment strategies at all stages of back pain, neck pain, injury or sports injury. Your exercise program will be specifically tailored to your needs. Exercise helps to facilitate recovery after an episode of pain or injury.  Exercise will help you to return to your favourite sport or leisure activity.

Ongoing exercises and activities are necessary to help maintain the benefits gained from your physiotherapy treatment sessions and to help prevent the injury or pain from recurring. This is why at Fortus Health we encourage our patients to perform exercises at home and continue with tailored programs even after the pain has subsided.

The spinal muscle activity scan - Ultrasound imaging

A spinal muscle activity scan using ultrasound imaging can be used to give you a real-time picture and feedback about how your muscles work and the progress you are making in your rehabilitation.
The Transversus Abdominus and Multifidus muscles have been shown to work less effectively in people with back pain than people without back pain. These muscles are deep and impossible to see at the skin surface. Therefore, it is harder for you to get a ‘feel’ for the exercises that are used to strengthen them.

Co-ordinated Team Care/ Fortus Programs

When back or neck pain has been present for more than four weeks, the pain experience may be intensified by lifestyle factors such as stress, lack of exercise or poor posture. A holistic approach to your care is essential for recovery if your pain is ongoing.

Your Fortus Physiotherapist will guide you through a tailored assessment and management program to suit your needs and goals. If necessary, Fortus Health can co-ordinate referrals to a GP, specialist, psychologist or other health professionals.

We can design the right program for you, whether you have back pain, neck pain, whiplash or other related injuries.

Neurological/ Balance Difficulties/ Falls/ Stroke Rehabilitation

We can tailor a program for patients with neurological or balance difficulties, a history of falls or other rehabilitation needs.
